What's the story?
NWP102A: Design a basic water system model
In this unit you'll find out about basic water and wastewater systems and use this knowledge to design a water system model of your own. You'll discover how water flows and find out about the scientific principles behind a working water system!
Project tasks
You will have two project tasks to complete for this unit.
Enter Hydropolis
The Hydropolis Water Board has been given two designs for new water system models and needs your help to judge them! Each design needs to be efficient and sustainable and to meet particular supply needs. You must provide feedback on each system and suggest ways to improve the design. Are you ready for the challenge?
Practical task
Your practical task for this unit is to design a water system model that could be used in your local community. This water model may be large or small, but it should fit the needs of your community and minimise water use. You will trace the water that is needed from the source, through the system, and on to where it is used and disposed of.
