Wear appropriate safety equipment. As a minimum standard you should wear safety glasses, ear muffs and gloves. Loose clothing is a hazard and should be avoided. |

Inspect the mechanical condition of the mulcher before use to minimize the chance of injury. |

Keep children and others out of the way of the mulcher when in use. Use witches' hats to cordon off the mulching area. |

Keep hands and limbs clear of all chutes and hoppers when the mulcher is in operation. |

Do not attempt to mulch material that is too large to fit in the hopper. |
 |
Do not attempt to mulch metal, rope, material, glass or plastic. |
 |
Do not attempt to mulch hot or smouldering material. |
 |
Mulchers are not to be operated by anyone under the age of 16 years. |
 |
Handle fuel with care: it is highly flammable. |
 |
Do not operate vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. |
