Everyday life requires a wide variety of skills and abilities and you'll be pleasantly surprised to discover how capable you are. These generic skills, known as employability skills, along with personal attributes, are skills required to gain employment and also progress within your chosen field.

This section of Life Skills helps you to record the skills and abilities you need to undertake the following activities. You don't have to complete all the activities in the list below, just the ones that are relevant to you.

Activity 1: A typical day Invites you to look at the different skills and tasks you might carry out on any given day. Activity 2: You're a STAR Allows you to explore your skills by breaking them down into Situation, Task, Action and Result. Activity 3: Everyday things Identifies skills you would use in household tasks, communicating with others and planning and organisation. Activity 4: Holiday time Looks at the skills you require to organise a holiday or overseas travel. Activity 5: Cultural awareness Allows you to reflect on personal information and experiences to show an awareness of cultural practices. Activity 6: Indigenous experience Allows you to reflect on personal information, traditional knowledge and skills related to your culture. Activity 7: Moving to a new country Looks at the before and after skills you would use when moving to a new country. Activity 8: Paid work Looks at the roles played and activities carried out whilst belonging to a club, association or community group. Activity 9: Memberships Enables you to reflect on your responsibilities as a volunteer, and any changes you may have initiated. Activity 10: Voluntary work Allows you to reflect on any work undertaken as an employee. Activity 11: Education and training Looks at qualifications you have gained from school, job training and other short courses, seminars or conferences you may have attended. |
